It is up to you to decide whether filing for bankruptcy is the best option for you. There are situations when filing for bankruptcy is not always in your best interest. Once you meet with Dan to discuss your situation, you will be able to learn about all of your alternatives and should be able to make an informed decision about whether filing for bankruptcy is the right choice for you.
Our office does allow you to make payments, which are held in the firm trust account. However, we cannot begin working on your case until your retainer has been paid in full. Once we receive your retainer, we will go over and provide you with a packet for you to complete. We will also need copies of the last six months of income for every person living in your household, in addition to a comprehensive checklist of documents that are required to begin the process. This checklist can be downloaded and printed here.
We encourage and request that our bankruptcy clients obtain a recent copy of their credit report. You will most likely find this an effective resource to assist you in completing your bankruptcy packet, as well as cross-referencing information regarding your creditors. The following site will allow you to download your credit report annually here.
Each
individual filing for bankruptcy must complete a credit counseling
course before and after their case is filed. We are happy to
provide you with the necessary resources to help you do this as
effortlessly as possible. The Office of the US Trustee has
compiled the following list of all approved agencies able to issue
certificates.
